Ecommerce visibility comes from a connected system across Google, AI search, Amazon, the brand site, publishers, affiliates, creators, reviews and retailers. Each channel has different mechanics. Customers experience one decision.

I have worked across ecommerce and retail at Amazon Fashion, Shopbop and J.Crew. Brand+Commerce also works with Tim Gill, whose practice spans SEO, AEO and Amazon. That combination matters because product discovery is now distributed across surfaces that do not share one reporting dashboard.

Start with the product information layer

Make the basics consistent and easy to retrieve: product name, category, use case, audience, materials or ingredients, size, fit, price, availability, shipping, returns and meaningful limitations. Keep the brand site, feeds, marketplaces and retailer content aligned. A customer should not need forensic training to determine which version is current.

Google and AI need different evidence from the same foundation

SEO depends on crawlable architecture, useful category and product pages, internal links and authority. AEO depends on clear answers and structured facts. AI systems also use independent sources, reviews, comparisons and editorial context. One product information layer can support all three when it is specific and maintained.

Amazon is a search environment and a conversion environment

Amazon work includes query and category strategy, titles, bullets, descriptions, imagery, enhanced content, reviews, retail readiness and advertising context. Organic visibility is shaped by relevance and performance. A strong brand site does not excuse a weak marketplace detail page, and a strong Amazon listing does not tell the full brand story.

Use content for the questions behind the product

Customers search for needs, comparisons, problems and routines before they search for a SKU. Build category guides, comparison pages, FAQs, buying advice and educational content that connect those questions to the right product. Keep the path to purchase obvious once the customer has enough information.

Earn third-party evidence

Publishers, affiliate guides, creators, expert reviewers and customer communities explain why a product belongs in a consideration set. Prioritize sources that serve the audience and can describe the product accurately. Track which attributes they repeat; that language often becomes the vocabulary AI systems use in recommendations.

Measure the whole path

Track rankings, AI mentions and citations, Amazon visibility, retailer presence, referral traffic, branded search, product engagement and conversion. The useful question is where discovery is growing and where the customer loses confidence. Channel reports are inputs. The decision is which information, authority or experience needs attention next.

Ecommerce benefits from specialists who understand the handoffs. Tim brings the SEO, AEO and Amazon mechanics. My work is grounded in the brand, retail and operating decisions that make those mechanics commercially useful.
